Payment System for American Citizen Services is down

Due to technical issues we cannot at this time accept credit cards for payment for any American Citizen Services, including passports, reports of birth, passport pages or notary services. We hope to have this problem resolved within a few days.We apologize for any inconvenience.

U.S. Citizen Services Unit

The U.S. Citizen Services Unit of the United States Embassy in Uruguay provides assistance to U.S. citizens in Uruguay. U.S. citizens can apply for passports, register their children born outside the United States (in Uruguay), and ask for help in emergency cases. We also notarize documents for use in the United States. The Federal Benefits Unit assists the beneficiaries of Social Security and other Federal Agencies. The U.S. Consulate is located in the U.S. Embassy building. 

Appointments

An appointment is mandatory for all non-emergency citizen services (passports, visa pages, reports of birth abroad, notary services, etc), except Federal Benefits.

Appointments for passport services and reporting the birth of a U.S. citizen in Uruguay are available on Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 am. to 11:00 am.

Appointments for notary services are available on Tuesday from 2:00 pm. to 4:00 pm.

Federal Benefits beneficiaries may come in on Mondays from 9:00 to 11:00 am. or 2:00 to 4:00 pm. without an appointment, except on Uruguayan and U.S. public holidays.

Document pick-up (passports, reports of birth): Tuesday and Thursday from 9:00 to 11:00 am.

No appointment is necessary for document pick-up.

Consular agents are available for telephone inquiries related to all services for U.S. Citizens on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3:30 pm. until 5:00 pm.

American Association of Uruguay (AWC)
