Robert H. Heiss meets with exporters
and Uruguayan government agencies to discuss security issues.

On
Dec. 6-8, Robert H. Heiss, chief inspector, Philadelphia
Airport, Customs and Border Protection of the Department
of Homeland Security, traveled to Uruguay on an official
visit and met with exporters and Uruguayan government agencies
to discuss security issues.
Heiss's first meeting was
held in the auditorium of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs
where he spoke about the provisions of the Bioterrorism
Act and the new FDA regulations that apply to foreign facilities
that manufacture, process, pack or hold products for human
or animal consumption in the United States. More than 100
exporters attended the meeting and had the opportunity to
ask questions about the new regulations.
Heiss also met with Uruguayan
Customs and Port Authorities and representatives from the
U.S. Embassy in Montevideo to discuss port security issues.
Heiss continued his travel to Buenos Aires to discuss similar
issues with local authorities and exporters.
