U.S. Judges Attend 48th Annual Meeting of Magistrates in Montevideo
The delegation met with top Uruguayan
lawyers and government officials
170 judges from 55 countries, including
6 U.S. judges, attended the 48th Annual Meeting of Magistrates
in Montevideo, November 21-23, 2005. The delegation of U.S.
judges consisted of the Honorable Charles R. Simpson III,
United States District Judge from Kentucky, the Honorable
Joanna Seybert, Federal District Judge from the Eastern
District of New York, the Honorable Bernice Donald, United
States District Judge, Eastern District of Tennessee, and
the Honorable Mirinda Vicenty, Mario Morales Rosario, and
Elizabeth Linares, all from Puerto Rico.
U.S. Chargé D'Affaires James Nealon
hosted a luncheon for the visiting U.S. judges where they
met and exchanged ideas with Uruguayan government officials,
lawyers and academic figures in the area of law.
