Public school teachers meet at the U.S. Embassy Montevideo August 10, 2005, to discuss Junior Achievement programs in Uruguayan schools.

The U.S. Embassy in Montevideo hosted a meeting of Uruguayan public school teachers who are developing various educational programs connected to Junior Achievement.

DESEM-Jovenes Emprendedores, a foundation representing the U.S. based international non-profit organization Junior Achievement in Uruguay, organized the meeting. The programs developed by the foundation are dedicated to educating and inspiring young people about business and economics. The project has existed in Uruguay for 15 years, and has more than doubled in size in the last three years. The programs boast success in improving the self-esteem of students and instilling confidence that allows them to improve their situations through their own efforts.

The U.S. Embassy in Montevideo is financing the programs that DESEM-Jovenes Emprendedores will develop this year in 11 public schools located throughout Montevideo and Canelones.
