US Customs and Border Protection
of the US Department of Homeland Security invited representatives
from different agencies of the Uruguayan Government and
the private sector to participate in a satellite broadcast
on the provisions of the Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response
Act of 2002 (the Bioterrorism Act).
The broadcast, hosted at the
US Embassy on October 28, 2003, addressed the FDA Registration
of Food Facilities that manufacture, process, pack or hold
these products for human or animal consumption in the United
States, and Prior Notice of Imported Food Shipments to the
US. The purpose of the broadcast was to inform the public
of the regulations set forth by this new Act.
