As
part of their tribute to honor the men and women who served
in the U.S. armed services and to observe the sacrifice
of those who fought and died for our country, members of
Boy Scouts Troop 908 got busy Saturday morning tidying up
and cleaning the gravesites of over 20 fallen U.S. service
personnel buried at Montevideo's British Cemetery.
The boys washed the headstones, thoroughly
cleaned around each of the gravesites, and replaced with
new ones all the American flags marking them.
Some of the headstones had become almost
illegible over the passing of time. After thorough scrubbing,
one of them revealed the name of a U.S. Navy Surgeon, Dr.
Kellogg, who died in Montevideo in 1867 while his ship was
at port during a South Atlantic mission.
