An event now celebrated in most of the western world, Halloween is a fun and "frightful" experience for kids of all ages. Every year, on October 31, children and adults dress up in costumes depicting scary creatures and participate in all sorts of festivities. The children, usually accompanied by their parents (who often wait discreetly in the background) will go door-to-door in their neighborhood, ringing doorbells and yelling "trick or treat!" The neighbors decorate their houses with spooky themes and leave their lights on to welcome the 'trick-or-treaters". The occupants—who often themselves dress up in scary costumes—will then hand out small candies and other treats so as to avoid any possible "trick."
