The U.S. Embassy Montevideo sponsors
DESEM-Junior Achievement courses in 10 Uruguayan
public schools. The program is designed to teach
and inspire elementary school children to value
enterprise, business and economics, in order to
improve the quality of their lives.
DESEM-Junior Achievement courses teach children the
basic concepts of business and the global economy as well as how to manage their personal finaces and become educated consumers.
The program involves
hundreds of Uruguayan school children and is targeted
towards lower income students at the age they
are most likely to drop out of school.
Earlier this week, public school No.178 'Martin Luther King' also celebrated
the success of DESEM's Junior Achievement courses.
