Sixth-grade students at Montevideo's
public school No.163 hold up their certificates
upon successfully completing their third DESEM-Junior
Achievement course, October 26, 2006.
The U.S. Embassy Montevideo sponsors
DESEM-Junior Achievement courses in 10 Uruguayan
public schools. The program is designed to teach and inspire elementary school children to value enterprise, business and economics, in order to improve the quality of their lives.
For the sixth graders at Montevideo's public school No.163 this was the third course they completed under the DESEM-Junior Achievement program. They were very enthusiastic about the knowledge and skills they had acquired regarding
global trade and economy as well as how to become
educated consumers.
Public Affairs officer Thomas Hamm and other
U.S. Embassy staff attended the closing event,
October 26, 2006 and helped present each of the
children with a diploma.
Last week, fifth graders at public school
No.70 in Montevideo also completed one of DESEM's
courses. (See related
