5 Uruguayan teachers of English in public
high schools will be selected to attend the Training
in the U.S.A. program from January 27 to February 11,
2007. The goals of the program are:
-- Enhance the knowledge and expertise of
the participants in best practices in the instruction of
English as a Foreign Language (EFL) at the secondary level,
including the use of participatory teaching techniques to
develop active learning in the classroom.
-- Improve the participants’ English
skills through advanced level content-based instruction
and the development and enhancement of successful language
learning strategies.
-- Enhance the participants’
understanding of American culture, society, and educational
system. Provide opportunities for the participants to interact
with Americans from diverse backgrounds in order to foster
awareness and understanding of each other’s culture,
traditions, and lifestyle.

is December 11, 2006. More information
