On September 13 the White House announced
that President George W. Bush has formally nominated Frank
E. Baxter, of California, to be Ambassador Extraordinary and
Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to the Oriental
Republic of Uruguay.
The nomination was sent to the U.S.
Senate for confirmation.
If confirmed, Ambassador Baxter will replace Minister Counselor James Nealon who has been
in charge of the U.S. diplomatic mission in Uruguay since
July 28, 2005 following Ambassador Martin J. Silverstein's
tenure.
