Dear Friend:
At 8:45 am on September 11, 2001 an American
Airlines airplane crashed into the north tower of the World
Trade Center in New York. In the next hour, over 3,000 died
as a result of the terrorist attacks.
The American Association of Uruguay invites
you to join us in a moment of silence to commemorate the
2nd anniversary of this event.
We invite you stop what you are doing for
one minute at 9:45 AM Uruguayan time (8:45 AM New York time).
We ask that you join us as we reflect on the victims and
their families, and on the negative impact this terrorist
act has had on our world.
The American Association of Uruguay invites
you to forward this message to all of your loved-ones, friends,
and co-workers. It is our hope that thousands, maybe millions,
of people around the world will take the time to remember
this tragic moment and pause to imagine a world in peace,
where tolerance and compassion are our guiding principles.
Below you will find a prayer written by a
member of our Association; if you wish, feel free to read
it during our moment of remembrance.
O God of Hope and Healing, comfort our hearts
today as we remember the chaos of two years
ago.
Remind us of the many loving heroes who served
in
the crisis: firefighters, police, medical
personnel... Give us the courage to learn
and grow from
tragedy. Challenge us to seek your peace.
Amen
