“When I was about 10 to 15 years old, I had friends who were from Louisiana and Texas who introduced me to Cajun and southern foods,” said Ceccenello, who traveled from the Westin Century Plaza Hotel & Spa in Los Angeles, Calif., to be guest chef at the Sheraton Hotel in Montevideo this week.

Ceccenello is preparing Louisiana-style gumbo and crab cakes in addition to all time favorites BBQ ribs, fried chicken and cheese cake during the Sheraton’s American Food Festival which opens to the public tonight and continue through Friday.

A reception was held on Friday (Dec. 5) to introduce the chef and kick off the event, sponsored by the U.S. Embassy, U.S. Department of Agriculture, American Chamber of Commerce, American Airlines and Pagnifique.
