An Uruguayan journalist will
join colleagues from around the world, to participate in
an international seminar to be held in March 2004 at the
University of Columbia School of Journalism in New York.
The award, which aims to enhance
the quality of economic reporting by providing training
to professional journalists, is sponsored by the U.S. Embassy
and the Interamerican Association of Economic Journalists
(AIPEF), Uruguayan chapter.
The President of AIPEF Nelson
Fernández and the Assistant Press & Cultural
Attaché of the US Embassy Melissa Martinez, launched
the contest at a press conference Thursday (Nov. 6).
Economic journalists who would
like to participate in this contest are required to present
a folder with a maximum of three articles written this year.
The jury, which includes university professors of journalism
and economic specialists, will meet Monday, Dec. 15, and
the winner will be announced the following day.
Last year, the winner of this
award was the economic editor of daily El Observador.
