U.S. GOVERNMENT DELIVERED MEDICAL
SUPPLIES TO THE MILITARY HOSPITAL

This
morning the Army Representative in the Office of Defense
Cooperation of the U.S. Embassy, Lt. Col Scott Messinger,
delivered medical supplies donated by the U.S. Southern
Command of the Department of Defense to the Central Hospital
of the Armed Forces.
A resuscitator, trays for medical instruments, scalpels,
gloves, surgical adhesive tape, and drainage tubes valued
at $2,500 were included in this delivery, the third in a
series of donations from the United States.
The director general of the Central Hospital of the Armed
Forces, Col Luis E. Lavista, the administrative Director,
C/N (CG) Tabaré Patrón, and the technical
director, Cnel. Dr. Gonzalo Fernández, as well as
other authorities of the Military Hospital and U.S. Embassy,
took part in the delivery ceremony.
In December, 2002, U.S. Ambassador Martin J. Silverstein
delivered to the Ministry of Public Health medicine and
medical supplies worth $550,000 donated by the U.S. Southern
Command.
