NEW DELIVERY OF MEDICAL SUPPLIES
TO THE MINISTRY OF PUBLIC HEALTH AND THE UNIVERSITY OF THE
REPUBLIC D

Medical supplies worth $10,000 brought to
Uruguay through the auspices of the Partners of the Americas
and the U.S. Embassy were delivered this morning to the
Ministry of Public Health and to the University of the Republic.
The Director of the National Institute of Traumatology and
Orthopedics, the Director of the Hospital de Clínicas,
representatives of Partners of the Americas and of the U.S.
Embassy were present at the ceremony at the Institute.
The materials come from the University of Minnesota Hospital
and consist of wheelchairs, pediatric cribs, prosthetic
supplies, gurneys, crutches, walkers, exercise equipment,
syringes, EKG electrodes and pediatric oxygen masks.
These supplies are intended for Ministry of Public Health
institutions, such as the national Institute of Traumatology
and Orthopedics, the Pereira Rossell Hospital, as well as
the Hospital de Clínicas, and a dental clinic in
the Department of Durazno.
In December, 2002, U.S. Ambassador Martin J. Silverstein
delivered to the Uruguayan Ministry of Public Health medicine
and medical supplies worth $550.000 donated by the Southern
Command of the U.S. Department of Defense.
In January of this year a supply of medical material was
delivered to the Central Hospital of the Armed Forces.
