A mission from Miami, Fla., arrived
in Uruguay Wednesday, Aug. 27 to cover an extensive agenda
with officials and representatives of the private sector
on Thursday and Friday.
The objective of this visit – chaired
by CEO of Florida FTAA Jorge Arizurieta – was to propose
to Uruguayan authorities that the city of Miami become the
future headquarters of Foreign Trade Area of the Americas.
The agenda included a meeting with the President of the
Republic Jorge Batlle, Thursday morning, Aug. 28, at Edificio
Libertad. The Florida mission also met with the new Minister
of Economy Isaac Alfie.
There also were meetings with high-ranking
officials from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Defense
and Tourism, Uruguay XXI, Zonamerica and Mercosur Secretariat.
