AMERICAN SCHOOL INAUGURATION

Press Release
US Ambassador Martin J. Silverstein, speaking
at the inauguration ceremony of the Uruguayan American School,
pointed out that “a bilingual education enables students
to excel in a world full of opportunity and promise”.
President Jorge Batlle, high ranking government
and education officials also attended the ceremony, which
opened with a parade of UAS children in outfits representing
more than two dozen nationalities attending the school.
The Uruguayan American
School was founded on April 14, 1958, to promote cross-cultural
understanding among American and Uruguayan children and
youngsters. Since its creation, the school maintains close
ties with the US Embassy.
