A Service Agreement was
signed today in the Uruguayan Embassy in Washington D.C.
between the Department of Agriculture of the United States
of America (USDA), the Uruguayan Ministry of Agriculture
Livestock and Fisheries and the National Beef Institute
(INAC) by which Uruguay is authorized to export and market
Natural Certificate beef, with the accreditation of the
USDA Process Verified Program.
This tool signed today, allows Uruguay to
enter with their beef products to the American market, certificated
by the USDA, indicating in the label of the product and
in the boxes, the essential attributes of our meats:
· without hormones
· without antibiotics
· not animal origin proteins used
· with grass-fed animals
· with traceability
· adequate management of the animals
This important agreement positions Uruguay
as the only one country in the world that has a program
with the accreditation of the USDA Process Verified. Fourteen
companies in the US have this same accreditation.
The list of programs can be found in the
following website: http://processverified.usda.gov/
Moreover, from now this tool allows Uruguay
to differentiate even more and with a certification their
beef to the importers and to the final consumers of the
United States and other countries of the world.
It will also allow Uruguay to easily access
buyers and supermarkets chains that sell exclusively organic
and natural products.
