VISAS FOR DIPLOMATS, GOVERNMENT REPRESENTATIVES, EMBASSY PERSONNEL, AND INTERNATIONAL ORGANIZATION EMPLOYEES OR REPRESENTATIVES

Visas A, G Y C3

Non-immigrant visas type A-1, A-2, G-1, G-2, G-3, G-4 and C-3 are for diplomats, government representatives, embassy personnel, and employees or representatives of International Organizations, traveling to or transiting the United States on an official mission.

Requirements

Persons applying for non-immigrant visas type A-1, A-2, G-1, G-2, G-3, G-4, and C-3, can come to the Consular Section (or send a person whom they trust, with the required documentation) Mondays through Thursdays, from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. without scheduling an appointment, since they will not be interviewed, and their digital fingerprints will not be taken. Nevertheless, if they wish to apply for another type of visa, for example the business/tourism visa B1/B2 and are diplomatic or official passport holders they will have to be physically present at the Consular Section, since we must take their digital fingerprints.

Note: Applicants holding official passports and applying for B1/B2 visas must pay the $131 USD MRV processing fee or the equivalent amount in Uruguayan pesos.

Documentation that must be presented by visa applicants traveling on official mission with diplomatic or official passports (A1, A2, C3):

• Valid diplomatic or official passport;
• One photograph size 5x5 cm., taken within the last six months, in color, facing forward, with a white background. Face the camera directly and expose your ears. The face and forehead should be completely visible. The face should cover 50% of the photograph space. If you use glasses, please remove them. Your head must be uncovered. Babies must have their eyes opened. Please paste the photograph on the lower right corner of the DS-156 form. The photo should be crisp with good contrast;
• Form: Form DS-156 must be completed electronically on this web page in the section ”Forms”, printed on quality paper using a laser printer and signed by the applicant. Forms completed by hand will NOT be accepted;
• Diplomatic Note: Issued by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Section: “Documentación de Viajes”.), stating the principal purpose of your travel, final destination, travel dates, etc.;
• Identity Card: The person coming to the Consular section should bring their identity card to be admitted.

Documentation that must be presented by employees’ or representatives of International Organizations when applying for a G1, G2, G3 or G4 type of visa:

• Valid passport;
• One photograph size 5x5 cm., taken within the last six months, in color, facing forward, with a white background. Face the camera directly and expose your ears. • A letter from the International Organization for which you working or representing: stating the principal purpose of your travel, your final destination, travel dates, etc.;
• Identity Card: The person coming to the Consular section should bring their identity card to be admitted.

Important Notes:

Official Passports: Applicants holding official passports and applying for B1/B2 visas must pay the $131 USD MRV processing fee or the equivalent amount in Uruguayan pesos.
Diplomatic Passports: Any visa type applied for by diplomatic passport holders, is free of charge;
Waiver of personal interviews: We do not waive the personal appearance of people accompanying official or diplomatic passport holders. This does not apply to personal or domestic employees of accredited government officials or international organization personnel or representatives. These individuals must schedule an appointment date and time through our Call Center.
