For the visa applicant to travel to the United States in an urgent
family emergency or medical emergency you should call the Visas
Information Service to arrange an appointment. Once you have obtained
the appointment and it conflicts with your travel plans please
tell the visa information agent.
The Consular Section considers the following examples cases
in which you would be able to request an urgent interview:
• Family Emergency Cases, including, emergency medical
treatment or being in charge of a family emergency (death of a
direct relative), to accompany a direct relative that will be
receiving medical treatments in the United States;
• If it is a medical case you should present proofs from
the doctor in Uruguay (diagnostic), also proof of the Hospital
you will be attending in the United States. You also need to present
proof of how you will cover the expenses of your treatment, if
your insurance will be paying please present a letter, in which
includes your bank summary, verifying the amount of money you
have etc.
Keep in mind that just because you have a medical emergency appointment
it is not a guarantee that you will be issued a visa. Each applicant
needs to meet the requirements according to the Immigration and
Nationality laws of the United States.
