Animation Artist Manuel Cuchilla Conducts Workshop in Montevideo

CalArts graduate helps local students hone their animation skills

Invited by the U.S. Embassy Montevideo and the Uruguayan business incubator Ingenio, California visual development artist and character animator Manuel Cuchilla visited Montevideo July 31 - August 16 to conduct a workshop for students and entrepreneurs on creating short animation videos. The courses were held at Animation Campus, a leading academy of animation and multimedia education in Montevideo. As part of the training, each participant was asked to create of a short film to be evaluated at the end of the workshop.

Cuchilla also gave a number of presentations to students pursuing careers in the audiovisual and communications fields at various universities throughout the city, and spoke to students at the Binational Center and at a local high school.

Manuel Cuchilla is a graduate of California Institute of Arts (CalArts), and manages his own company in Los Angeles called Smart Print. He also teaches young students under the CalArts Community Arts Partnership program (CAP).
