On May 25, 2009, representatives from the armed forces of the United States, Uruguay and several other countries, gathered at the British Cemetery in Montevideo to observe Memorial Day. U.S. Defense Attaché LTC Patrick Hall delivered the opening remarks followed by Chargé D'Affaires Robin Matthewman. A number of civilians including Mrs. Kathy Baxter, wife of former Ambassador Frank Baxter, joined in the ceremony.
