Q: [airton07]: My name's Airton Martins, I'm a 2007 Youth Ambassador from Brazil. How was the Forum experience? Since not all the socially engaged youth in the Americas could be present at this event, how can we help you to put into practice what you've discussed up there?

Answer [Youth Ambassador Mariano]: Well the forum was very good, actually we have been for hours trying to find the main problems that the Americas have in order to present them to the presidents. We have talked about different topics, especially the education and the environmental problems. Well, a good way to put into practice what we have discussed is trying to engage public officials to fulfill the proposes of the Summit.

A [Youth Ambassador Mariano]: Well, it is easy if you want it to be easy. I think that you have to be open to new experiences. And you have not to forget that US citizens are people just like you.

Q: [Addis Ababa Youth:] What advantage that we get in future [from this forum]?

A [Youth Ambassador Mariano]: Addis: We will get a very important advantage, we will be heard [by] our governments. We (the youths) are very important for solving some of the issues we have nowadays.

A [Youth Ambassador Stephanie]: pienso que a pesar de cada uno de nosotros somos de paises distintos, pertenecemos al mismo continente, por lo tanto debemos encontrar la manera de unir y enriquecernos todos en conjunto con las ventajas de cada nacion para asi superar debilidades y conflictos

A [Youth Ambassador Stephanie]: El presidente, Alvaro Uribe, tendra su primer encuentro con el presidente Barack Obama para tratar el TLC y poder concretar la alianza con EEUU

Q: [Florencia L]: Mariano could you talk about the topics you have discussed?? Just to have a general idea.

A [Youth Ambassador Mariano]: Florencia: We have discussed different topics. We have divided into 3 groups; one was going to talk about Human prosperity, other about Environment and other one about Energy security. I actually have been in Human prosperity. We made various changes into the draft, for example, we have included clauses about the health (HIV, malaria...), about sports, about the necessity of changing the educational system, and about better conditions for entrepreneurs.

A [Youth Ambassador Stephanie]: marianne no esta presente en el webchat porque esta en la reunion con las cancillerias de relaciones exteriores presentando los resultados del foro juvenil

Q: [Karla Pérez 2]: Qué tipo de proyectos han desarrollado en sus comunidades? Han funcionado todos? Dificultades?

A [Youth Ambassador Amanda]: Hola, mi nbombre es amanda sanchez y soy de venezuela. Pues, la verdad es que si, todos tenemos diferentes proyectos en nuestros paises, por ejemplo, en Venezuela estoy desarrollando uno ahora para involucrar a la comunidad en la importancia del trabajo voluntario. Estoy trabajando con un grupo de jovenes en un hospital publico para ninos con cancer y de bajos recursos. Trabajamos en la inclusion de ellos en la sociedad ara que no se sientan desplazados. dificultades son muchisimas por ejemplo la falta de conciencia y responsabilidad social en la gente, pero estamos creando campanas para la concientizacion.

Q: [francayrus]: mariano could you tell us more about the possible solutions that you and the rest of the group suggested

A [Youth Ambassador Mariano]: Well, it is really difficult to find some solutions to do alone. We have to work in group and all together, trying to make real the proposals of the Summit. We have to make alliances between us and the governments to find better solutions to the main issues. Also we can solve some problems by practicing some volunteer activities

Q: [Romi]: Stephani: Pero que han hablado ustedes ahi sobre la declaracion? que propuestas van a hacer?

A [Youth Ambassador Stephanie]: Voy a mencionar algunos de los topicos que propusimos y fueron aceptados para incorporar en la declaracion

Q: [Florencia L]: Stephanie: se hablaron algunas de las maneras de ¿como podrian los paises ,y los jóvenes especialmente, podriamos unirnos y por lo tanot enriquecernos??

A [Youth Ambassador Stephani]e: Reformas en el sistema educativo, participacion activa de jovenes en la toma de decisiones relacionadas con la comunidad

Comment [Florencia L]: and about human prosperity do you said something that gov. should encourage people to get involved in their prosperity and no just complain about everything... instead of doing something for their communities.

A [Youth Ambassador Mariano]: I think that it is high time for youth to take part in the world, and take civic and social responsibilities. We should get involved in the solutions, instead of complaining for what the governments does not do.

A [Youth Ambassador Amanda]: Hola Carmen, es amanda de venezuela. las politiccas de los gobiernos se van a tomar directamente en la cumbre con los presidentes, es decir nosotros no discutimos eso directamente en el foro juvenil, pero tambien estoy muy interesada en saberlo, asi que cualquier cosa que sepa te la hare llegar.

Comment [Youth Ambassador Laize]: hello, ola dennis and elizabeth. the summit was good, also the youth forum, ill be back on sunday.

Comment [Lawman Lynch]: The notion that youth are important is almost false. Far too long young people have been after thoughts. Our concerns must be placed squarely on the global agenda. Presently far too many children and young people are marginalised, which leads to crime, violence and other social ills. Our voices must be heard at the highest level without the regular RED-TAPES.

Comment [Lawman Lynch]: Who will be speaking on behalf of youth? It shouldn't be a question of access, i firmly believe that if young people are considered priority for global development, ease of access for a representative should have been considered.

A [Youth Ambassador Stephanie]: Por lo menos tendremos una voz que nos represente y el punto de vista de nosotros sera escuchado. Claro que todo depende siempre de la aprobacion de la declaracion por parte de los Estados pertenecientes a la Cumbre

Q: [Daniel Mosco]: what are the proposals for the environment development?

A [Youth Ambassador Laize]: we had a section named environmental sustainability. we proposed to call the governments to integrate curriculum on environmental sustainability into schools starting at primary level.

Q: [Adriana Gallegos]: tengo curiosidad en.porque muchos jovenes quieren venirse a EEUU. Que tiene que hacer Latino Ameria para que los jovenes se queden en sus paises y que tiene que hacer EEUU para ayudar a Latino America con los jovenes.

A [Youth Ambassador Amanda]: Hola Adriana es Amanda sanchez de Venezuela La fuga de talentos o fuga de cerebros es un fenomeno que tiene muchisimo tiempo ocurriendo en latinoamerica, yo pienso que es responsabilidad del estado crear politicas eficientes y las condiciones necesarioas para que los jovenes tengan oportunidades de desarrollo en sus propiois paises y asi no tengan la necesiodad de imigrar a aises como los estados unidos en donde si se les dan oportunidades para desarrollar sus habilidades, talentos y capacidades.

Comment [Youth Ambassador Laize]: Pessoal, embora tenhamos pouco tempo, o Summit nao pode ser resumido em um chat ou simplesmente em palavras, mas sim em acoes, ou seja, no que nos youth ambassadors estamos fazendo, trabalhando nas nossas comunidades, fazendo a diferenca. o espirito do summit e de integracao e isso a juventude sabe fazer como ninguem.
