A delegation headed by U.S. Chargé D'Affaires Robin Matthewman visited the SOS Children's Village near Montevideo on December 17, 2008 as a follow up to a donation of household materials made by the American Women's Club to the United States home located within the orphanage. Several countries and organizations donated and maintain many of the homes that comprise the village.

Accompanying the embassy delegation was the director of the Office of Public Diplomacy Bureau of Western Hemisphere Affairs for the U.S. Dept. of State, John Dickson, as well as representatives from the American Women's Club in Uruguay. A lively choir of resident children welcomed the delegation and shared a wonderful visit.
