President Hoover's Visit To Uruguay

President Hoover was received in the Government House by the President del Uruguay, Dr. Juan Campistegui, accompanied by a select group of Uruguayan government and political figures of the era.
HOOVER
The President of the United States, Herbert
Hoover made a memorable trip to Uruguay, bringing to us
an unforgettable message of true friendship.
The 31st President-elect of the great nation
from the North, he embarked on the continental journey as
a demonstration of the spirit of Pan-Americanism, carried
out by him with the faithfulness to the principals that
have always guided the international conduct of the United
States.
President Campistegui welcomed the illustrious
guest with a strong embrace between the two Heads-of-State,
a true symbol of the spiritual unity of the two American
nations whose destinies they guided.

President Hoover and his wife are greeted at the Montevideo port by the then Chief of Police, Dr. Abelardo Véscovi.
A huge crowd turned out to extend a warm welcome to the honored guest.
At the Legislative Palace with the Senators and Deputies who were on hand to meet him.
Accompanied by the U.S. Chief of Mission, Ulysses Grant-Smith, Mr. Hoover tours the city of Montevideo.
Mrs. Campistegui hosts Mrs. Hoover at a magnificent reception at the Presidential residence. Pictured here with the two First Ladies are distinguished ladies of Uruguayan society along members of the North American and British communities.
