The Uruguayan cable network VTV and the
U.S. Embassy Montevideo presented on September 27 the launching
of the third season of their co-production "La Ruta de..."
(“The Road of…”) a television series on bilateral trade between
Uruguay and the United States.
A team of journalists from VTV and the U.S.
Embassy Montevideo traveled last August to different parts of the U.S. in order to work on the four new installments of the series. Each program is devoted to a specific topic: leather, wood, tourism and a special on Alaska.
VTV News director Jorge Garcia Alberti, cameraman Sebastian Ferrin and Rubek Orlando, Media specialist for the U.S. Embassy, visited the cities of Seattle, Anchorage, Hickory and New York where most of the series was videotaped.
At the announcement, U.S. Ambassador Frank
E. Baxter stated that commercial
exchange between the two countries "has experienced a permanent
growth. In 2006 alone it reached 850 million dollars, making
the U.S. one of the largest and most important markets for
Uruguayan exports. We see all this trade reflected over
the last three years in this series of programs.”
The series, now in its third consecutive
season, will commence broadcasting this coming Sunday, September
30 and will present different aspects – until now unknown
to the Uruguayan public – on bilateral trade in these areas
as well as the prolific trade between the two countries.
The first program will be “The Road
of Wood”. The following “roads” on leather, and tourism
will broadcast on Sunday, October 7 and Sunday, October
14. The final program on Alaska will air on Sunday, October
21. All will be broadcast at 11 pm with repeats during the
week at times to be announced by the network.
