  JAZZ AL MAS ALTO NIVEL CON EL CUARTETO JAZZSABROSON

 

El cuarteto JazzSabroson, destacado exponente del jazz norteamericano, llegará la semana próxima a Montevideo para cumplir una breve gira que incluye presentaciones en Montevideo, Durazno y Tacuarembó. 

Integrado por Miriam Sullivan, Jainardo Batista Sterling, Steve Bloom y Antonio de Vivo, el grupo se presentará el miércoles 28 de mayo, a las 20.00 horas en el Teatro Alianza (Paraguay 1217).  Previamente el domingo 25 de mayo se presentará en la ciudad de Durazno, a partir de las 19.30 horas y el lunes 26, también a las 19.30 horas en la ciudad de Tacuarembó. Todos los conciertos son con entrada libre. 

En el caso del concierto en la sala China Zorrilla del Teatro de la Alianza Cultural Uruguay-Estados Unidos, las invitaciones correspondientes deberán retirarse a partir de las 16 horas del mismo día. 

Los recitales son organizados por la Embajada de los Estados Unidos de América y la Alianza Cultural Uruguay – Estados Unidos, con los auspicios de la Intendencia Municipal de Durazno y la Intendencia Municipal de Tacuarembó.  

La presentación del cuarteto JazzSabroson se encuadra dentro del Programa Jazz Ambassadors organizado conjuntamente por el Departamento de Estado de los Estados Unidos y el Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. 

Los grupos que forman parte del Programa Jazz Ambassadors, en gira por diferentes partes del mundo, están integrados por músicos de excelente nivel, seleccionados a través de audiciones en vivo.

Previo a las diferentes giras, los tríos participantes de este programa actúan en el Millenium Stage del Kennedy Center, en conciertos con entrada libre. 

MUSICOS DE ALTO NIVEL

Miriam Sullivan, bajista y quien encabeza el grupo, nació en la ciudad de Nueva York. Ejecuta diferentes estilos musiciales incluyendo jazz, funk, hip hop, soul y rock latino. Egresada de la Escuela de Música de Manhatan estudió con Billy Taylor, Lisle Atkinson, Ron Carter, Charles Davis y Ted Dunbar. Ha actuado en numerosos festivales de jazz tanto en los Estados Unidos como en Europa y Japón.

Jainardo Batista Sterling, percusionista y vocalista, nació en San Juan de Puerto Rico. Estudió música en Nueva York, Es miembro fundador, principal vocalista, percusionista y compositor del grupo afro-cubano Mo´Guajiro.

Steve Bloom, guitarrista del grupo trabaja y enseña regularmente en Nueva York y en diferentes países de Europa. Egresado de la Long Island University estudió con figuras de la talla de Ted Dunbar, Pat Martino, Ben  Monder, Dave Fiuczynski, Viriginia Luque y Mark del Priora.

Antonio De Vivo, percusionista del grupo, nació en Caracas, Venezuela. Egresado de la Escuela de Música Ars Nova en Caracas y de la New School University en Nueva York, ha participado activamente en el grupo Mo´Guajiro. 

PROGRAMA

 

El cuarteto interpretara una selección de temas de diferentes estilos como ser bebop, jazz, blues y jazz latino. Entre  los temas se destacan  “Now is the Time” de Charlie Parker, “26.2” de John Coltrane y Summertime de Gershwin así como algunos de autoría de los propios artistas.

  TOP-LEVEL JAZZ WITH THE JAZZSABROSON QUARTET

 

The JazzSabroson Quartet, famous exponent of U.S. jazz, will arrive in Montevideo next week for a brief tour that includes performances in Montevideo, Durazno and Tacuarembó. 

The group, composed of Miriam Sullivan, Jainardo Batista Sterling, Steve Bloom and Antonio de Vivo, will give one performance on Wednesday, May 28 at 8:00 p.m. at the Alianza Theater.  On Sunday, May 25 they will perform at 7:30 p.m. in the city of Durazno, and on Monday, May 26, they will perform at 7:30 p.m.  in the city of Tacuarembó.  All performances are open to the public. 

For the concert at the China Zorrilla Theater in the Alianza Cultural Uruguay-Estados Unidos, invitations may be picked up the same day starting at 4:00 p.m. 

The recitals are organized by the U.S. Embassy and the Alianza Cultural Uruguay – Estados Unidos, under the sponsorship of the Municipalities of Durazno and Tacuarembó. 

The presentation of the JazzSabroson Quarter is within the Jazz Ambassadors Program organized by and U.S. Department of State and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. 

Groups that are part of the Jazz Ambassadors Program, traveling around the world, are composed of high-level musicians, chosen through live auditions. 

Before the different tours, the trios participating in this program make performances at the Millenium Stage of the Kennedy Center, in concerts open to the public.

HIGH-LEVEL MUSICIANS

Miriam Sullivan, bass player who leads the group, was born in the city of New York.  She plays different musical styles, including jazz, funk, hip hop, soul and Latin rock. She graduated from the Manhattan School of Music and studied with Billy Taylor, Lisle Atkinson, Ron Carter, Charles Davis and Ted Dunbar. She has performed in several jazz festivals both in the United States and in Europe and Japan.

Jainardo Batista Sterling, percussionist and vocalist, was born in San Juan de Puerto Rico. He studies music in New York.  He is founder member, main vocalist, percussionist and composer of the Afro-Cuban Mo´Guajiro Group.

Steve Bloom, guitar player works and teaches regularly in New York and in different countries in Europe.  He graduated from the Long Island University and studies with important figures such as Ted Dunbar, Pat Martino, Ben Monder, Dave Fiuczynski, Viriginia Luque and Mark del Priora.

Antonio De Vivo, percussionist of the group, was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He graduated from the Ars Nova School of Music in Caracas and the New School University in New York.  He has actively participated in the Mo´Guajiro Group.
